Biography
Renata’s inspiration started as a child in Europe, while sitting in her family orchard. That is where she started appreciating nature and the colors all around her and that’s where her first artistic drawing creations came to be. Life took her on a world journey that brought her to Ohio. Her love for fashion, modeling and pursuit of art was then turned into painting. She studied Dutch style oil portraiture with Bill Kufahl, where she found her true calling. She continued her portraiture studies at the Cleveland Institute of Art where she received her Certificate of Completion. Renata started to draw inspiration from visits to the Cleveland Museum of Art admiring the Renaissance paintings depicting Royalty and European elites in their elaborate clothing. She also found inspiration in the history of 1960s and 70s fashion through research studies and documentaries. The youth movement of that era was influenced by political and social events. Young people were rebelling conservatism through their clothing, art, and music, expressing their desire for world peace, love and freedom. That inspiration was pivotal in her creation of the series called “Homage to Art of Fashion” where she captured a yearly progression of fashion through icons and celebrities that also reflects in her book. Renata’s art has been displayed locally and internationally in Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, England and Italy, for which she received numerous awards.

Artists statement
In my artworks I focus on capturing the individual's essence and the emotions. My inspiration came from admiring the paintings of the artists like Rembrandt, Vermeer, John Singer Sargent, Claude Monet and other impressionists. I have always admired Renaissance artists depicting high society fashion in their paintings. These artists were also known for creating costumes, designing textile patterns, and embroidery. Flemish artists like Rubens and Anthony Van Dyck also found inspiration in clothing. Van Dyck's portraiture showed us the Baroque fashion worn by members of British court of Charles 1 in the 1630s. The classical Flemish glazing techniques I used in my paintings give a timeless quality, capturing a frozen moment of the human emotion. My artworks highlight the fashion during the tumultuous years of the 1960s and 1970s. The vibrancy and the styles of that era inspired me to create paintings of the icons and celebrities that reflect the spirit of these decades in my series called “Homage to the Art of Fashion” 1960s and 1970s. With this series, I decided to create the book with the same name that captures the events of each decade that influenced people's lives. This book includes the headlines and photos of major events in 1960s and 70s, and also the photos of my paintings of the icons with short life stories.
Honoré de Balzac wrote: "Fashion is the expression of society...fashion is, all at once, an art, a custom, a sentiment."
Homage to Art of Fashion
“My series is about the defining role of styles and fashion worn by icons and models throughout the 1960s and 1970s. I was inspired by 1960s and 1970s through research studies and documentaries of those decades influenced by political and social movements. Young people were rebelling conservatism through their music, art and clothing, expressing their desire for World Peace, Love and Freedom. That inspiration was pivotal in my creation of the series called: “Homage to Art of Fashion”. The spirit of that era impacted the changes in the fashion industry and the trends of those decades.”
